For Kat  My Daughter
On Her Wedding Day
21 June, 2003

Her hair done up in twists and curls
I hardly knew my 'ittle girl'
Such pride was welling up inside
To see my baby girl, a Bride

Her face aglow, oh, what a sight
This woman child all draped in white
While the memories of her life flew by
Her Father tried hard not to cry

For on my Daughter's  wedding day
So many things I want to say
Neath clear blue sky and grassy floor
I had no wisdom to explore

I saw love's vision in her eyes
I heard her say  'Until I die '
I a sense of loss in side
When someone said,  'You may kiss your bride '

For what more can a Father do
When some young man says  'I Do '
But love them both and let them see
How much their happiness means to me

A daughter lost?  No, not this time
A son has joined this family, mine
For while it's hard to let her go
Release them both, I must, I know

So on this grand, auspicious day
There's little more a Dad can say
Tho you're his now, remember still,
Your daddy loves you,  and always will
