Tapestry

Like a tiny wind-borne boat
Floating on the breeze
Cast off from its lofty perch
High among the trees

Down the tiny vessel drifts
Gently spinning round
Riding waves of fall’s chilled air
Slowly to the ground

Lonely splash of russet brown
Tipped in harvest gold
Painted nature flown to land
Wondrous to behold

Followed by another sail
Leading others still
Autumn’s wind swept blizzard
Soon the skies to fill

Blaze of orange, flash of red
Yellow, gold and green
Shades and textures, rich and bold
Nature in extreme

Down the leaves of autumn fall
Blanketing the ground
Grand, majestic tapestry
God’s theater in the round
