One Spoon At A Time

Adrift in a twilight of shadows and dreams,
A mist through which little is quite what it seems,
A promise of hope rides a beacon sublime,
To bring you the ocean one spoon at a time.

For there is the essence and fullness of love,
A promise that’s bound here on earth, and above,
That if you should ask it, O vision divine,
To bring you the ocean, one spoon at a time!

How could love that is noble refuse such a quest?
To offer its all and deliver its best?
And bring through the portals of distance and time
And offer the ocean one spoon at a time!

Across the broad mountains so distant and high,
A love hurries on at the edge of the sky,
To carry a bond-gift each step of his climb,
To bring you the ocean one spoon at a time.

No mountain so high, and no valley so deep,
To falter the heart of the love that you keep.
As simple as a small child’s nursery rhyme,
I bring you the ocean one spoon at a time.

For this is the essence of love in my vow,
To answer the beckon and call here and now,
For if you would ask it, your wish would be mine,
To bring you the ocean one spoon at a time.
