A New Year’s Wish

We toil at life from day to day
And wonder, as we go our way
Through tribulation, joy and fear
From thunderous laugh to silent tear

What of those things we hold so close
The stuff of live we cherish most
The warming sun, the gentle breeze
Or running barefoot through piles of leaves

The mesmerizing fall of rain
The beauty of a flowering plain
The hope within a child’s eyes
The endless cast of starry skies

Old years pass by, and new ones start
To herald futures bright and smart
Beneath the bright expanse above
To hope of the new is filled with love

A tapestry of hope is dawned
A canvas waiting to be drawn
In colors vivid, bold and bright
Of dark that fails before the light

We, silent, stand before the day
To face whatever comes our way
To meet head on the bold unknown
And reign victorious when it’s gone
