The Last One

(for Linda, my wife, who IS “The Last One”)

She was more than I ever dared hope for,
Or even thought might possibly exist,
And the fact of the matter is,
I wasn’t even looking when I found her.

She’s everything I ever wanted
And a whole string of things
I didn’t even dare dream
Were even remotely possible.

Yet, through what some may call coincidence,
Or perhaps fate,
Or maybe even accident,
She was.  She
IS!

And when I met her,
I knew she was the one;
The one I had been looking for all my life
Even when I didn’t know I was looking.

And someone once said, on a whim, I suppose,
That there simply weren’t any more left
One could call ‘the right one’
I smiled and said, I know!

I got the last one!
