I Have To Write

Another frost tipped Autumn night
A roaring fire, blazing bright
The subdued glow of candlelight
The sultry sax is pure delight
The loneliness, alas, my plight
But that’s OK , I’ll be alright
I see the world through second sight
Although the difference may be slight
I have no cause to feel contrite
For on I press with all my might
As though a brave and questing Knight
My loneliness is not a blight
In fact, the quiet I invite
Imagination to ignite
Some obscure verse has taken flight
That someone, somewhere may recite
Or say, perhaps, to be polite
They passed along my poem tonight
And while this missive may seem trite
Perhaps the rhythm’s not just right
It takes me to a different height
For while it calls, I have to write
