The fluttering wings
Of the Monarch
As it drifts lazily
From thistle to rose;
From daisy to goldenrod
Dancing on the summer breeze
Across an open field

The glistening drops
Of morning dew
As they slide silently
From strand to strand;
From intersection to broadway
Shining like diamonds in the sun
On a freshly spun web.

The transparent film
Of autumn ice
Formed overnight
In water filled trails where children have played
In lacy patterns on frosty window panes
Sheer as silken blouses
Draped over frozen mannequins

Three whispered words
Spoken in tenderness
Adrift on oceans of care
From soft lips to waiting ears;
From one needy heart to another
Binding the fragile union
Of two hearts as they become one
