Druid Part one of the druid cycle

In ancient times the Druid came
To seek the truth in mystic flame
Within the hedge of standing stone
The Bard; the Wizard stood alone

Beneath a full and rising moon
His secret incantations croon
A dash of this, a bit of that
Some lizard tongue, a wing of bat

From deep within the hidden belt
A pouch made from a badger pelt
He sprinkles powder crushed from root
He adds some ancient oaken soot

And gazing in the smoking pyre
He seeks the secret of the fire
What mystery will his eyes behold
This dark enchanter, drawn and old

A man of ancient wisdom, he
Besought of kings, what will he see
Impatient to be understood
He adds a pinch of dragon’s blood

As dying embers seek the sky
The swirling mists attract his eye
A dance within the smoke and flame
A distant voice does call his name

Hark, oh Druid, mighty Seer
Hear the voice that draws you near
Calm of heart, yea, stout and pure
Can you now my words endure?

Vision breaks the still of night
Opens forth the Second Sight
To the flame his eyes are drawn
Dancing flames begin their song

Hear, oh Bard, the portend bold
Darkness deep, from evil, old
Fail not to stretch forth your hand
Ancient evil floods the land

See the vision, ancient Priest
Slay the demon, hold the beast
Seek the child of ruddy hair
Guide the hand the sword to bear

Fail not in the noble quest
Guard the child above the rest
Only he can stem the flow
Of the evil that will grow

Seek the child in forest deep
Sheltered by the hidden keep
Safe from noble blood to hide
Find the child, the child, guide

Steer his path, protect his steel
He alone the land will heal
Hear me noble Druid, Bard,
The task you set upon is hard

Darkness is upon the land
You must guide the child’s hand
Rise, now, go about your task
There is nothing more to ask

Stands the Druid all alone
In the hedge of Standing Stone
Embers die before the night
Darkness flees the coming light

Ancient druid, standing tall
He alone can stop the fall
Old and weary, leaves the Stone
Off to seek and find the One

Mystic Druid, Seer, Bard
Master of the ancient art
For this moment you were born
